hard, soft, firm. For my shoe structure I put hard, soft, soft, firm and they were made out of the bottom of a gumboot, a sponge, a dishcloth and then on the top was a towel. I hot glued all of this together with hot glue. Once I put all of the padding in the bottom of my shoe I put the top of my shoe on that was a different type of towel I put that there to half your foot in when you walk.
Welcome to the Room 7 blog!! We are excited to share our learning progress with a wider audience. Our work will be a mixture of unfinished, unpublished and completed tasks. Feedback is welcome in the form of two medals (positive), a mission (constructive next step) and a question. Thanks for taking the time to share in our learning.

Leon's attempt at engineering shoes
In room 7 we have been learning about shoe structures and designs. The normal shoe structure is
Bens shoe
My shoe worked out how I wanted it because it works and it hasn't broke and I have worn it a lot. I think that I could do better on the staples because some of them keep coming out when I walk around. Over all I think that my shoe is awesome because I never knew that i could make a shoe that works and it's all homemade. My shoe layers were hard, soft, soft and it went tyre, sponge and then dishcloth. i like my shoe and think I did an amazing job.
Lucas' shoe
This term we had a task to create a shoe. I decided to make s fully covered in shoe out of an old shoe, and an old tyre. We also had to make a layering system, I made mine out of a piece of rubber, a sponge and pillow stuffing. After I figured out how much rubber I needed to cut I started to layer. After layering I started putting on the rubber, I had too much rubber so I folded it over and glued it down. It looked quite tight and when I put my foot inside my shoe it split. Next time I would need to be figure out exactly how much rubber I need.

Van Gogh starry night.
For art in room 7 we had to try and recreate starry night from Vincent Van Gogh using the small, thick, flick technique that Van Gogh used. Of course it does not match up because we are not as good as vn Gogh but we tried our hardest to do it. We had six in our group and we each had a different part Boston did the bottom left, Jayden did the middle bottom, Alyssa did the bottom right, Leon did the top left, Courtney did the top middle and Ryan did the top right.
Starry night - Vincent Van Gogh
For art, our group worked together and assigned each other parts of the Starry Night painting.
We worked separately, but in a group, because after we had finished our individual parts of the painting, we had to but all our parts of the painting together to create our own Starry Night.
There were six members in our group, Ashley, Bella , Nerissa , Katie , Emma, Nicole.

A group effort for Starry Night
Students have been collaborating in groups to create their version of Starry Night by Vincent Van Gogh. Here are some images of their progress, they are all doing an amazing job! Some are finding it challenging to master the technique but are well supported by their group members.
Faces of Room 7
Everyone in Room 7 looked into their individuality, uniqueness and flaws. They demonstrated acceptance of who they are by creating life-size faces out of cardboard. They all did an amazing job!

leon's attempt at a picture story
In room 7 we have been making visual stories on New Zealand being 100% pure. We did a visual story because we needed to try and represent our written work in a different way and so we know how to use iMovie. So I hope you like my attempt. I think I did a good job. So if you comment on my essay I will be able to use what you said to make another one.
100% NZ picture story
I think that I did my digital essay well because it represents new Zealand. What I think I could do better is make it more complex and use more pictures and different music. Over all I think it looks cool.
100% Pure New Zealand
I think I made word choices that suit the topic. Pictures were easy to find but next time I need to make sure they are from New Zealand.

Marshmallow challenge
Today in room 7 we were split into groups and told we were doing a marshmallow challenge. We had 20 pieces of spaghetti, a marshmallow, 1m of scotch tape and 1m of string, we had to make a self supported structure with the marshmallow at the top.we began talking about the plan straight away. We ended up choosing to make a cube outline then sit a pyramid on top of that with the marshmallow on top,two people were working on the pyramid and three were on the box. The box kept on slipping out so we decided to just use the pyramid and poke a piece of spaghetti through to hold up the marshmallow. In the end ours wasn't the tallest but just after the tallest got measured it fell over, we ended up winning the small team building game. It took a few skills like communicating and being open to ideas.
MARSHMALLOW CHALLENGE
To complete This task we needed to get the marshmallow as high off the ground as we can using spaghetti sticks, 1 metre of tape and string . We could not lean it up against anything or tape there bottom to the tabel or we were disqualified. Our group would have won but our one fell over so Lachlan's team won at 35 cm tall. Ours was 66 cm tall but Lachlan's team shook the table a tiny bit. So we did no qualify.
Marshmallow challenge
Today room 7 attempted the marshmallow challenge, for some people it was easy but for others it was not so easy.
Our learning intention was to collaborate and communicate well as a team, and also to create a strong base to support our structure.
We were disqualified because we taped our structure to the desk! We could have worked better.

Attempt at a visual essay on powerpoint
I think my pictures, words and colours show what was written in your 100% Pure NZ: everyday a different journey essay. I struggled trying to get this onto the blog as a PowerPoint, so I videoed it with an I pad and uploaded it. If anyone knows how to upload a PowerPoint presentation to the blog please let me know!

Nicole's visual essay
Earlier this year we had to write a 100% pure New Zealand essay about how New Zealand is unique.
We had to turn our written essay into a visual essay we did this either using power point or iMovie.
We carefully had to choose persuasive and descriptive words to go with our pictures.
I think I chose persuasive words that make my points clear, but I struggled a bit with using iMovie.

First go at visual essay
In room 7 we had to make our 100% pure new Zealand essay in to a visual essay. The first step that we had to do was to get all of our main points and get some really powerful words that describe that main point. I am not sure if I used enough persuasive language and words. I think my photos show what was written in my original essay.

It's a Mystery
Hehehe the kids had no idea what, where and when things were happening today !! They were asked to pack their:
Togs / towel
Shorts
Long pants
T shirt
Jersey
And of course their toothbrush !!
We began by going to a random park where Mrs T managed to beat Keeva in a 100m sprint. Following this excitement we all piled back onto the bus for mystery number 2. For the next three and a half hours we were swinging stretching and screaming from the tree tops. Adrenalin forest was a very amazing place to be. Some very tired bodies made their way to the pools for a well deserved soak. A bit of shopping followed this which needs to remain a mystery for a while and then an ice cream at McDonalds and back on the bus a long 9 hours after we started. What an amazing and very long, rewarding day. Thanks to all the year 7 and 8 children and all the parents for an amazing camp full of lots of fun.
Camp Mystery Day?
Today was our mystery day at camp where we started off by getting on the bus and heading to a mystery location which was a park and we had heaps of fun. Then we were back on the road again to a mystery but we ended off at adrenalin Forest where we could climb through trees on ropes. We were off once more to the pools but of course we didn't know! The pools had heaps of stuff like hydro slides and spas. But then the day ended and we went home but unexpectedly Mark (Denzyls dad) pranked Nerissa by getting shaving foam and putting it on her face. Camp has been heaps of fun.
Mystery day ...
Today we were going to random places it was awesome because it was a mystery day. We went to the park first that wasn't as interesting as other activities all of them included fitness like adrenaline forest. It was a forest with heaps of zip lines and ropes and much more. Then we went to the pools it was awesome the hydro slide, it was so fast and I got lots of my body of the air it was so twisty but it was amazing.
Adrenaline forest.
Also today we went to the Aquatic centre which included hydro slides, wave machines, 2 spas, a swimming pool, kids pool, sauna, steam room and lazy river. Leon's highlight was going down the hydro slide and Bella's highlight was chilling in the spa. It was pretty much like your everyday flash aquatic pool but at least we still had loads of fun.
Before all of this the teachers tricked us in to thinking that we were going to have a stink mystery day by going to the park at the start of the day.

Capital E-day 3
Today we went to capital E. We did 2d animation and onTV broadcasting. We learned how to use stylists pens and tablets to draw our animations.
For the TV broadcasting we were all given set roles, Denzyl was the 2 minutes with Denzyl reporter, Katie was the assistant wardrobe, and Nicole was presenter 1.
We have really enjoyed working at capital E and all our other camp activities.

CAMP DAY 2 WE SURVIVED😄
Day 2 on camp was really great at about 9:10 am we rode a train al the way into central Wellington. One of Jayden's highlights was Te papa and parliament because we got to watch the politicians debate, it was really cool because we saw John key there as well and afterwards we got to meet Chester Burrows. Some of Lucas' highlights were Te papa because we were lucky enough to walk through the Gallipoli exhibition another one was getting candy from the edge radio station. So we all think today went really well.

Camp Day 1
At approximately 8:45 we headed off the Wellington from school and our first stop was whanganui where we had morning tea, followed by a walk around the lake. After that we were back on the road bound for wellazzz (Wellington) but then it came to a halt when arriving in Wellington we made a awesome stop at the southwards car museum, where we experienced the history of cars. When finally reaching our destination we were all buzzed and ready to get out of the bus. One by one the year 7 and 8 students of Ngaere school filed off the bus. A lot of eyes popped when we saw where we were staying it was awesome! silverstream retreat had raised the standards and then the day continued.. Where dinner took place and some mean activities!! -keeva. Boston. Ashley xoxo

Interview on contract week
Contract week has been awesome, but my favourite thing was the milk art because myself and Lachlan's art looked quite cool. It is quite good because you can do work whenever you want or the order you want. When we have a teacher lesson we get called up or we are given a time. By Ryan and Jayden

Denzyl's farming movie
I made the pictures and clips fit in to a farming parody of Katy Perry's roar song. I had a lot of fun making it and so did my dad. Enjoy
Home work and contract days
For the last two weeks room 7 has got a homework grid which has 4 compulsory tasks and 12 optional tasks, you have to choose at least three. I'm really liking this grid first Things first I love the fact that each week it's something different and you get to have a choice on certain tasks! At the moment I'm really stuck on the science task you have to do a flow chart that shows the process you used to explore the activation of yeast. OMG I'm not very good at science so I'm so stuck I don't even know how to do a flow chart and the task is confusing. But as you know I love homework!! also in class we have been having contract days which is where you have certain tasks you have to do but you can choose what ever order you like unless your not working well! This is very fun it makes me get on task, so I know what I have to finish so you have to use your self motivation but people are taking it for relaxing days " miss isn't watching what I'm doing so I'll just do something off task" But other than that I'm enjoying the last months of school they are really FUN! Please comment and give your feedback of what you think! Thanks!! 😎

Homework at home
This is part of our homework for week eight. At the top of that pile there is a homework grid, you have 4 compulsory tasks to do like certain maths, English, science and reading. You also have to do at least 3 optional tasks, mine are, maths which create 3 maths problems for the class, art, create some really cool artwork that represents room 7 to go in the class and all about me bag, fill a bag with 4 things that you can use to tell the Class about yourself. All of this homework has to be done in 5 days otherwise each time it's late in 20% of your score is taken away!! Also we have to be kind to someone like making a letter or baking or telling them face to face how special they are or just making them feel special and doing it to someone we don't usually talk to. This may be a lot but it's actually not I may sound like a nerd here but I love homework hahahhaha.

Genius hour room 7
In room 7 we have something called genius hour where we have to find a question that we have to answer a question that we came up with we only have an hour every few days to try answer it. Mine is how tall of a tower could be made using all of the Lego bricks in the world. Our learning intentions were to find a question that will take longer than one Google search to answers that's why we have more than one genius hour.
Jayden's NZ is green art work
We made a poem about the colour that represents NZ to us I chose green because of all the bush and grass flats and pounamu, greenstone I've finished my poem and just completed my art work. I like my artwork it looks very effective effective I dyed sand to try and make it green it turned out okay.i used plants and other greenery for most of it. If I could have some comments please on what you think of my art.
Cameron's homework project
Nz is green
Well in room 7 the past week or so we have been creating a New Zealand artwork that represents what colour New Zealand means to us. My colour I choose was green because New Zealand is such a clean green country with barely any rubbish or litter lying around, and it's dense bushes and forests. Our focus was to make abstract representations of New Zealand using one colour. The art works include the elements of texture, value and contrast.

Nz is green
Room 7 has been making cool blending colour art. We had to start off with planing then that showed me what to do. I used grass leaves and of course paint. I made a hart that shows me my love for others and myself. We started blank peace of blank card then blended the paint to creat cool pattern. After that we stuck on all the leaves and grass to make a hart shape.
Bella's Tree Art.
Room 7 have recently been working on some maths art which we have to finish when we finish our work early and some time to spare. Firstly, draw a circle in the middle of the page using a compass. Then we had to draw lines both horizontally and vertically. Then finally we had to draw the tree. On the inside of the circle, we had to colour in the squares with warm colours and on the outside of the circle, we had to colour in the squares with cool colours, leaving the tree blank. This is mine. I have yet to colour in the squares with cool and hot colours and black in ALL the lines.
Tree art
Room 7 have been working on tree art. First we drew a circle in the middle of the page with a compass then we drew the grid lines. We coulored in the background with cool coulors and on the inside of the circle we coulored it in warm coulors then vivid in the lines on the tree.
New Zealand is poem
Tall green native tree
Very hard not to see
The soft moss made in the trough
Makes you sneeze and cough
Green silage bales
Repel,big thick hail
Tall stalky green grass
Chewed down by cattle as they pass
The lime green leaves
Floating in the breeze
The big fat chubby hog
Rolling round in the muddy bog
Can I please have constructive feedback
NZ art
Room7, have been doing art about what we think the colour NZ is to us. We had to show texture, contrast, and the value of the colour. First we had to write a poem about our colour. This is my poem.
The green silage wrap
that helped get wrapped by a helpful chap
The trees of the forestry
under natures authority
The greenstone of the freeland
also known as New Zealand
The dark green grassy field
covers the dirt like a shield
The big green Kea
sits in view of a sightseer
Grass green dairy flats
be nice to the cows or you might get pats
NZ is green artwork
In room 7 we are making a piece of artwork that represents New Zealand is green. I chose green because nearly everything is green in NZ. This my artwork down the bottom finished. I got all the bush, leaves and the green rocks from home and painted the background. I hot glued and PVA glued everything on the bit of paper and we had to show texture, contrast and the value of the colour and right down the bottom is cyrus's artwork
NZ Art
In room 7 we had to make a paces of NZ art to show what NZ means to us. So I put churched up leaves as the grass, the tops of the leaves as sheep, and a hole leave as the farmer, the middle of the leaves as birds and grass as the cloud.
Room 7 homework project
Over the past 6 weeks room 7 have been working on a product that represents New Zealand to us. We could use construction, photography, iMovie, cooking, drawing/painting, soundscape or advertisement to represent our connection. We had to record our progress in our process diary. Every time we worked on it we had to take photos and in a paragraph we had to tell them what we worked on.

JOSHUA'S AIR NZ SAFTY VIDEO
I would like comments on what I could do better and what you enjoyed about it.
Hope you enjoyed it.
JOSHUA'S HOME WORK PROJECT
In room7 we had to do a homework project on what New Zealand means to me.
I chose to make a air New Zealand plane for my homework project.
Air New Zealand connects to my New Zealand because my family goes on air New Zealand when we go on holiday. We also had to reflect, and do a diary entry every time we carried on with our project.
In the photo above is my finished project. The hardest part on it was to get the right shape of that air craft.

Courtneys new zealand recording poem
This term we have been learning a lot about poems, our focus for this activity was to make our poem that represents New Zealand and has one colour, mine is black and also it had to have rhyming words, visual affect, music affect and saying our poem amongst the background music. We made our own music on garage band we did a lot of experimenting through out the task. I think this was a awesome activity using technology. hope you like it

New Zealand is artwork
Lately room 7 have been working on a art and English assessment. We have done a what is white (Ma) poem, New Zealand is poem, texture with paper and line representation in artwork. With our line artwork we could use any materials that represented white to us. We had to plan our New Zealand artwork and show how we were going to show it and how we were going to show contrast. We had to pick a colour that represented New Zealand to us. Then we had to write a rhyming poem about that colour. Once we had written the poem we planned how we we were going to present our colour. We had to use contrast from dark to light. This is Cyrus's in progress.
New Zealand colour poem recording
The learning intention for the poem was to represent new Zealand through a colour. Once I completed it Miss Boatswain asked since we are living in the technology age to make a soundscape and record myself saying my poem on garageband. Could I have feedback on the background music please.

Jack's Tree art
Lately room 7 has been making awesome colouring in artwork with trees. At first we had to draw a circle then lines both horizontal and vertical then the tree. The branches had to be in the circle. I yet have to colour inside the circle. We were using warm and cold colours.
New Zealand is...poem
In class we have been writing poems about New Zealand. Our focus was to describe New Zealand creatively through one colour and include rhyme. First we had to pick a colour that we think represents our wonderful country the most, I picked green as my colour because green reminds me of New Zealand's rolling hills and dense bush. Then we had to pick six things that were the same colour that we had chosen beforehand. I am up to publishing my poem so it's still a work in progress, but this is how it goes:
New Zealand is...
Leaves flittering in the breeze,
Covering all the tops of the trees.
Farms are dotted everywhere,
From top to bottom and here to there.
Soft green moss on the forest floor,
Keep on walking, you're bound to see more.
Bush surrounds everything,
And homes the birds that love to sing.
The rolling hills everywhere,
Makes the tourists want to stop and stare.
Please tell me what you think and I need some suggestions on what to draw on my published copy.
By Tylah.
Jayden working on his nz is poem
Learning intension is describe NZ creatively through one colour and include rhyme.
I chose green because of all the grass, bush and NZ is well known for greenstone.
My next step would be to read it through again to check for spelling mistakes that I've missed and to not miss out words. In between sentences.the part I like about it is the block letter heading and the fern at the bottom.
Essay planning
Our focus is to respond persuasively to the essay topic "100% pure New Zealand everyday a different journey" -stating and explaining your position. - Gathering facts and giving examples. - Linking back to the statement throughout the essay. - Using persuasive words and phrase and discuss the following elements like historical, geographical, culture, adventure, Natuarl phenomena and any extra. At the moment this is my plan I have found alot of interesting facts! If you would like you can give me some more facts or feed back my favourite fact at the moment is if you want a fullfil a once in a lifetime ambition, over Queenstown promises to leave you gasping with happiness and grinning from ear to ear and do awesome jet boating! So hopefully I get some comments
