Behind the scenes

We have thought of a character Called pat who will be explaining to Ngaere school how and why to be sun safe. Our goal for the end product is to make Ngaere school more sun safe to make sure no one gets sun burnt in Ngaere school.  We have got Pat ready and some of the scenery. We have chosen who is going to be Pat and we have thought of a slogan which we can't tell you right now. Now we leave you with a poem. The Sun is bright its harsh Rays with fight so be careful in the sun and don't be dumb.

Remember be sun safe by wearing a hat and sunblock.

Safety campaign update

In room seven we have been doing a safety campaign on water and sun  , Our group chose to do water safety and so far we have… Research and found out data  to support our decision on the swim program, we have made a brief written plan to show the end idea  and the steps we need to take to get there , We have also  had an interview with Miss boatswain to show her our progress . Our next steps are to research and find data  for our safety campaign, and a brief  explanation of what the data shows

We will update you when we have made more progress 👍👍👍

Testing our contraption

Today we added a strong handle for our box to be able to be attached to the flying fox. We attached our box to the flying fox so we could test the distance and speed and it would be traveling at. We did four experiments with each one getting timed, we then added all of the different speeds it traveled at, and then divided that answer by 4. This gave us an average speed that it was traveling at. The one thing we need to modify on our box is adding a lid because when we were testing it the egg cartons flew out, which means squashed tomatoes.

Tomato challenge part 2

At this stage we have half built our device. We still need some wire to hold the device and make it mobile. Our next stage is to build the zip line so we can do the experiment and gather info.

Tomato Zipline

For this unit, project we have to make design something that will carry tomatoes to the market in Nepal. Jordyn and I will be making  a box it will be going down the flying fox, the minim it can travel  is one meter. We will be making it by hand with wood or cardboard, and we will make two hole on the side of the creation and rap some rope around the inside of the hole and we will tie it to the flying fox to make a Zipline, to travel to the market to make easier for the people in Nepal to transport their tomatoes from the top of the hills to the bottom of the hill to the Nepal market. If we succeed we have saved the people who lived in Nepal 3 long hot hours of walking uphill and downhill to transport their tomatoes to make money.

A Pulpy Predicament

In room 7 we have started a tomatoe challenge where we are in partners and we have to create a thing that can take some tomatoes at least 1m without squashing the tomatoes. You are only allowed to give your creation one push to start it off. We are only allowed to use recyclable materials and it will be due in week 6.

9.11.16
Today have brought some of our materials and we have started to create our device we also finished our measurements sheet. To finish our carrying device we need to stick on some wheels and add in the egg cartons to the inside of the box.

Pulpy Predicament Project

For our tomato challenge, we decided to make a zip line using a bucket, two poles and some baling twine. To make sure the tomatoes don't get squashed, we will use some egg cartons and pillow stuffing in the bucket.
There will also be a bit of string connected to it so we can pull it back up when we need it.
We think it will be a successful creation because the tomatoes will be really well protected and it will get to its destination quicker.
